This morning I want to tie into some of the things I learned from playing football. I played all through middle school and high school; I’m a small Asian dude, I played offensive line, I bulked up 30lbs over the summer to only hit 215lbs so I was really small. The average is about 290lbs-320lbs, not necessarily rock solid muscle like the NFL but they were big dudes and my parents were always worried I would get killed. The reason I played and that I was able to play is that I am nasty. I am not going to let some guy push me around just because he is bigger than me. They might get me sometimes, but if you have technique, it will always win.
Sometimes you are not the greatest just because; you may have enough but you need to grow into it. I see a lot of people come onto the internet who want to be the best but won’t change themselves. They come out and want to sponsor 50 people and have $1000 days but they don’t invest in themselves. That is a no-no. You are going to have people who are natural closers, who have natural direct marketing skills, people who have really good copy writing skills; if you don’t have any skills what do you do? Do you complain and don’t do anything and just quit?
I was talking to someone on facebook the other day and asked him how his network marketing business was going; he said he gave it his best shot, he tried 2 different companies and he quit and he was just doing affiliate marketing. That is fine, bottom line is you are trying to make some money, but be honest with yourself. If you want to do network marketing and that fire goes out in the 1st 6 months you need to decide if you are in it for the money or for the benefits it provides.
Affiliate marketing for the most part is not a residual type of thing that is why people get into network marketing for the residual income. The money is great; but what does it give you? Does it allow you to pick up your kids from school and get paid? Does it allow you to go to PTA meetings? Does it allow you to go wash your car and get paid? If those are some of the things that you would like to do, things that require time freedom, then you need to have multiple streams of income.
You need to understand why you are in it, if you are new to the game, and to the industry then you should have your why written down; or if you have been in this industry long enough to understand why you have your why. If you are not willing to invest in yourself and get better others are going to and they are going to be better before you. This isn’t like NFL where only a few get to the pro; you need to think about it like division 5 football where there are 1000s and 1000s of people who have some skills and then there are people like me who are straight up nasty. I am in it for the fight, the 2 types of marketing principles that really play into this is PPC and SEO.
If you are the type of person that is passive and you let things happen and just curl up in a little ball then you are never going to make it. Don’t do that to yourself. You can be a passive person and still dominate people. Why; you have confidence in yourself. If you don’t think you can do it, then you can’t do it. You have to have your mind in the right place and you will be surprised at what you can do. You have to go with what you were dealt and get better at it.
The first time I hit 10,000 leads with MLSP I thought if I smoked I would be sitting back with a cigar and I did it part time! I was thinking there are so many people who would love to have a list, it is ridiculous what I have been able to accomplish with MLSP because I applied what they teach me. I am not a rocket scientist, there is actually a guy I sponsored who is a rocket scientist and it hasn’t done much for him so far, but he is still in it so we will see.
One more thing I want to touch on and I want you to take it as a good thing; every single person that comes in before you and after you; you are going to consider competition. Really the competition is you. I say this because if you join a company you are like “aww I’m at the bottom” don’t be a pessimist. A lot of people are going to quit because they are lazy, because their why isn’t strong enough; because their spouse didn’t support them, whatever; they will complain about anything. They are just giving themselves a reason to quit, you are better than that. Train yourself to be better than that. Tell yourself that you are going to be #1 in 3 months and just make it happen.
