I have used Distribute Your Articles for sometime now. It has been in and out of my daily marketing routine and I just had one itching question:

“Why doesn't Distribute Your Articles allow for drip fed submission like so many others?”

Here is a response from their top flight customer service department:

“As in all things, moderation is key. What you want is to find the appropriate mix of blogstorm/excitement combined with a gradual display of your articles on the home page of relevant content sites to get Google to sit up and take notice.

While there is nothing wrong with the idea of a “drip feed” we've found that trumpeting your content to a whole bunch of places at once will get the attention of the spiders.

Of course, getting your articles to the directories is just the first step in your article marketing campaign and the magic happens when your article is syndicated to actual niche content sites. THAT is where the ‘drip feed' belongs. You want to get your articles into the directories as quickly as possible, to make it available to the publishers who will use your content in their newsletters, ebooks, and on their content pages.

After completing over 300,000,000 distributions, we've found that “drip feeding” to article directories just slows down your entry into the SERPS.

Think about it like a physical product for sale. If you create a product, you want to get it on the shelves of as many stores as you can, as quickly as you can, to make it available to as many consumers as possible.

If you were to “drip feed” your product, all it will do is prevent your product from getting in front of consumers. That would be like putting it on the shelves at Wal-Mart this week, but telling Target they must wait a week and then telling Macy's they must wait two weeks! 😉

The best results of an article marketing campaign happen when you get your product (content) onto the shelves at Wal-Mart, Target and Macy's (article directories) as quickly as possible so that consumers (publishers and syndicators) can get it onto their relevant sites over time.

When your content is displayed for a short time on the home page of a relevant content site, then another and another, that is success. 🙂

Hope that helped! 🙂

Great Article Lawrence, I’ve thought about this feature before when I first started using the Article Submitter software I use, but I always go with blasting them all out at once. Very informative article.

i mean you gotta wonder right? so many say drip it or don’t make a footprint… well i’ve ranked a ton with footprints… who cares. hahah. just get ranked then you can drip stuff to it. then at least your making money faster 😉

Looks more natural and consistent when you drip feed.

no knock to drip feeding but i’m here for results. If everyone is doing drip feeding and I can do a blast that will set me on the top 10 this week I’ll do it. Sure long term it will hurt but I can always do a drip feed later.

My full intention is “can I break top 10”. if you can solve that answer in a week why not?

Thanks Lawrence that is an interesting take on the subject. I guess it makes some sense and speaks some about what “the article directories” actually are lol. Directories of articles for others to use kinda weird but it seems thats their purpose. Why else would someone create a site for anyone to put their content all over except for adwords I guess. Like he said your submission is just the beginning. That along with “other” tools we use creates the “buzz” we need to get the bots attention. But from there we need a somewhat consistant flow of chatter about our stuff. : ) anyways Thanks for sharing this. Just another thing to ad to the equation : ) TTYL man

yeah, don’t get to stuck in is this the “right” way.

your own personal testing will tell you what works for you. The best is a mixture of everything right? that’s the most organic anyways but if a direct blast will get me ranked…. count me in 😉
